Lost Nikon Coolpix P5000 what happens if you lose your camera when traveling? My daughter has lost hers while walking the el camino santiago pilgrimage. I am trying to help her find her camera, I am hoping another pilgrim would have picked it up and may try to find who it belongs to. If this person tries to search this lost camera I am also hoping that they will find one of the posts that I have made. I have also found a site that helps people who have or have found a camera. It is a great site that makes it easy to list the camera and location of lost or found cameras, it also provides a gallery to upload photos to help with identification. I had my camera leaving Fromista. I'm pretty sure I also had it in the next town 3.8 km later called Poblacion de Campos. After this town there was a choice to walk along the road or to walk along the river and we chose the path along the river, about 10 km later in Villalcazar de Sirga I went to take a picture and realized that i didnt have my camera anymore. In those 10 km we only passed through one small town called Villovieco, but we stopped other places in the shade along the path and it must have just fell out of my bag at some point. So, it could be anywhere along this 10 km stretch of path beside the river. I should've gone back to look for it, but it was hot and the thought of walking backwards in the sun with no shade overpowered the desire to find my camera. I regretted that later when I was rested again, but well thats what happened.

In an earlier post I made reference to the change in this blog from cameras to bicycles. It is still winter here in Grand Forks so not to much has happened with www.cycleforfun.ca but www.contactphotoarts.com have received their first stock of the new Panasonic TS3. Happy New year everyone. I know I am a little late but we have had a very busy start to the year 2011. With this post my blog will began slowly to change. My life is more about bicycles now than cameras. We now have a new business found here Cycle For Fun and it has now been one year since we sold Contact Photo Arts. I am still a part time employee for the new owners of Contact Photo Arts and I am still helping people find the right camera for their needs but I also have other interests, two of which are cycling and travel. Cycle for Fun is a retail home based sales business selling recumbent and semi recumbent bicycles. One of these bicycles folds and fits into a suitcase, perfect for taking your bicycle with you on a holiday. We did just that this January taking a Cruzbike Quest folding recumbent with us to the Canary Islands to visit our daughter who has been living there. If it wasn't for this visit I don't think we would have ever discovered the Canary Islands as it is a place few North Americans seem to visit. This trip was my first with a bicycle in a suitcase. I have always dreamed of landing at an exotic airport, opening my suitcase, putting together my bicycle and riding off into the sunset. I know there are other people with a similar dream, if you are one of them I have published an article Traveling with the Cruzbike Quest. I did take my Panasonic G1 on this trip with just one lens, the 20 mm 1.7, I enjoyed having just one lens and it was also an interesting travel experience for me because as much as I like capturing photos this trip was not just about capturing those photos but also riding through a foreign and very interesting landscape. Panasonic FZ100, there is quite a fuss about this new camera as introduced in my last post. I was one of the first in the world to post photos from this camera on Dpreview and they have received much attention. Dpreview have also posted their comparison of the FZ100 to other cameras and there is cause for concern. There maybe a problem with their comparison photo or the photo may be an accurate representation of the camera. If the photo is an accurate representation of the quality of this camera's still image then I think we may be seeing a shift in Panasonic's priorities. The camera has a very nice feature set and may be better suited to people using the cameras video mode more than people looking for a ultra zoom camera for stills. For me I am now waiting for the FZ40 to arrive in early Sept. This camera will have the same lens but a ccd sensor and it will be interesting to see how the still images compare. This is a photo that I took while walking to work this morning. I was thinking of the people out there who may be using the FZ100 as a birding camera. Stay tuned for more, regards Bill

It has been a while again between photos but the summer here is so nice and with a bike ride every night and a swim in the river..... well.

Here is some exciting news, soon I will have stock of the new Panasonic ultra zoom, the FZ100. The is the first big change in the very popular Panasonic ultra zoom camera since the introduction of the FZ18. I have posted many photos from the FZ18 in the past and for myself felt no need to use the later EZ28 and last years model FZ35. This may change as the new FZ100 has a 24x lens. This will be a very popular camera and you may see some of the first photos taken with one posted here. I expect stock any day now. It stopped raining long enough for me to take a few photos, one good thing about the clouds is that they do provide a nice background for the river and trees. This photo was taken with the Samsung EX1 using smart range and editing in camera. I lowered the density by two stops which is the maximum amount. It is possible to edit a photo twice though which I have tried. Bill Wilby

Today is a nice day, we have been waiting awhile for sunshine and with the flowers and a little heat it is beginning to feel that summer is really on its way. These photos I have just taken with the Samsung EX1, a great little P&S shoot camera. The AMOLED screen is very usable in bright sunshine. I was one of the first in Canada and the world to have stock of this camera as I received stock mid May. It is taking the photo community awhile to notice this camera but that may soon change as Luminous-landscape has just posted their review. This review reflects the experience that I have been having with this camera. I have only one problem, I need to sell cameras and it has been difficult to sell this camera. In our global market place it is very easy for us to see prices of products in other countries. It would be nice to have global pricing but this has yet to happen. Canada was the first to receive this camera and we also have the distinction of having the highest cost. My goal is to be a source for the Samsung EX1 in Canada but this may not happen unless the price of this camera increases in the rest of the world or decreases here in Canada, most of us would like to see the decrease, "eh" Bill

We have received our Samsung lenses, the 30 mm F2 is very small. Both the 30 mm and the 50-200 feel very well built. There is bundle pricing for the body and extra lenses, 1049.00 including the 30mm and 995.00 including the 50-200. We have stock of the Nx10 with 18-45 at 790.00. I have now returned home and am back to work. I have enjoyed using the Samsung EX1 and will take one on my next trip. Now that I have been able to print my photos I am very happy with the jpeg files and for me see no reason to consider using raw. I am looking forward to using the wide angle adapter and the optical viewfinder and will post photos when I have them in stock. Here is one more travel photo unedited from the camera. So here I am in my home town of Alert Bay. I am really enjoying using the new Samsung Ex 1. I think I may have told you that already. Tonight I am walking down the street and a young man asks me "what are your doing?" You need to understand not to many people walk too far in Alert Bay. So I say I'm going for a walk, he thinks about this just a minute and says I think I will go for a walk too, so we start walking down the street together. Then he asks " where you from?" I have to think about this a bit and finally say, from here but a long time ago. Now you need to further understand this person has had just a little alcohol to drink and is now a little confused so he doesn't quite believe me, so I ask him who his parents are. As it turns out I went to school with his father who is the same age and was able to amaze him with a few old details. Alert Bay is where my roots are, even if I haven't lived here for 30 years the 25 that I did put down some deep roots. Alert Bay is the kind of small island community that I don't think anyone who was born here and lived a few years here would ever want to say they were from any where but here, Alert Bay. The photo of the old dock is where I used to tie up my first boat, an 8 foot punt, the other photo is a salmon berry, if you have never tasted a Alert Bay salmon berry I feel sorry for you because you are really missing something special, cheers Bill

This seems to happen to me each Spring, the river comes up and things just start to get exciting and I go away and miss it. In this photo we are packing the van and heading out to Vancouver Island. I am looking forward to returning to my home town of Alert Bay and using this new camera, the Samsung Ex-1. There is a chance the river may be high when we return but this is a low water year. This photo has been taken from a bedroom deck and with the 24 mm equivalent focal length lens the Ex-1 is very good for landscapes. The photo was resized in the camera but other than that unchanged. I will post more from this camera as I am traveling. Bill

We are still waiting for spring to come, it was only 2 degrees above freezing this morning. This photo was taken with the Panasonic 20 1.7 lens on my G1. I am still waiting for the Samsung 30 mm pancake to compare. I have used this lens very little and I have taken few photos of late. I noticed the morning light and as I was set to take the photo two Canadian geese saw me with my camera and decided that I really needed them to complete the scene. Bill

I am still enjoying the Samsung NX10. I am looking forward to receiving the 30 mm and the 50-200 which may arrive in early May. This photo was edited in the camera with the Samsung Photo Style Selector. I selected Vivid. I also re sized the photo to make it easier to post. I have not used a camera to edit my files before and with the NX 10 have found that this is very easy to do. There is a cropping mode too and I could see myself using these features when traveling and posting photos to my blog. The large 3 inch AMOLED is also useful for in camera edit. I took this photo this evening of my chair and the rising river. The vivid mode added a little snap and my lawn has never looked so green. Bill

Here is another of my photos taken with the Samsung NX10. It was taken in the West Edmonton mall with auto white balance. It was resized in the camera with no PP. I have set the camera to Adobe RGB colour space and not the default SRGB. The black and white was converted in camera. I was attending a meeting held at the mall. I am looking forward to some more travel with this camera and viewing this photo reminded me that it has been over a year since my last trip to Europe, way way too long ago. Bill

It has been a very long time since I have posted to my blog. My mother has again even stopped looking for new photos. Well spring is here and I have a new camera to play with so between those two things I hope to catch up. I now have the Samsung NX10 in stock and have been using one this past weekend to get to know it. You may know how much I love my Panasonic G1 and I did feel just a little uncomfortable and a bit unfaithful when I first picked up the NX10. Myself like many people are looking for the ideal camera to travel with that will be light, small and still delivery the quality and photography experience we enjoy with a full size SLR. The Panasonic M/4/3 cameras were the first to enter this market and because of their success there may be several other companies who will follow. The Samsung NX10 is the latest. I have enjoyed using the nx10 and it is similar in someways to the G1 and different in many others. The first two things that were different for me was that I found myself using the manual mode often because unlike the G1 it does not gain up the display. I also used the AMOLED screen more because it is very impressive. I do wish it would tilt and swivel like the G1 but it doesn't. I also can't remember what AMOLED means but it is very good. I will look it up, I did read the book, something that I don't always do but the NX10 is very easy if you are also someone who may not get around to use the book. The second thing for me is that I did use the movie mode. They look great in the camera now I just need to learn what to do next. When traveling in the past there have been times I would have like to capture movement and sound. I do have the two extra lenses that are made for this camera on order and am looking forward to seeing more including something very wide. The photos I have posted are jpeg's straight from the camera and re sized in the camera to make them easy to post. I do plan on posting more. I do also have an entertaining movie of two sea lions performing in the West Edmonton Mall. I am also looking forward to receiving the next new Samsung camera, the EX-1. Cheers Bill

Happy New Year every one. Time can go by very fast this time of the year and for this year much faster than most. It has been awhile since I have had time to post a photo, just ask my Mother. She has stopped checking my blog, like I am sure most of you have too. This year is going to be a year of many changes for us. The biggest change is the sale of Contact Photo Arts, our family owned camera store and photo lab. The sale will be complete at the end of January. For our customers who may be reading this please do not panic, I will be working for the new owners part time for the next year. The new location of Contact Photo Arts photo department will be inside Value Drug Mart Grand Forks with the new owners Carol and Dave. We have been working together to create a win, win and win situation. Firstly Sandra and myself will be now semi retired. Secondly the increased traffic and extra services for Carol and Dave will add to their already busy and successful business. And thirdly our customers will benefit with increased service from more days open and more service staff. There is also a new dry print photo lab and more customer photo kiosks. We also plan to offer more instruction including camera and photography workshops. We would also like to help people become familiar with our web site, Foto Depot that enables customers to order and archive their photos. Back to my blog, I was able to take this photo of a blue heron because of my day off on Monday. With more time at home I hope to be able to take many more back yard wildlife photos this year. Meet my friend Bob. Bob the beaver and I have been crossing paths for several years and if you look back in previous posts you will find several photos of him from a distance. After sunset last night I noticed him on the river bank looking for a snack. I was very surprised and even a little excited to find out that Bob actually likes having his photo taken. He doesn't even seem to mind the camera flash. He also wasn't alone and maybe he was showing off for the camera just a little. The other thing I learned was that Bob likes to talk. He even manages to talk and eat at the same time. His talking wasn't directed at me but at the other friendly beaver who had swam across the river to join him for a snack. I would have recorded the conversation but I was only using for a camera the Panasonic G1 which does not include sound. Tomorrow I am receiving my first shipment of the Panasonic GF1 which does have sound and video. Lets hope I can find Bob in a hungry and talkative mood so I can test the new Panasonic GF1. cheers Bill

It has been awhile since I have been able to post. There has been much to do and little time to do it. This past week I received the new Panasonic FZ35. This is Panasonic's most resent ultra zoom camera, if you have read earlier posts you will know we use a Panasonic FZ18 for our family point and shoot camera. What I have found so far is that the FZ35 has faster focus and a better electronic viewfinder commonly referred to as a EVF. The EVF is not nearly as good as the Panasonic G1 and GH1 but it is an improvement on the FZ28. Here is one of the first photos I have taken with the Panasonic FZ35. Bill

This time of the year living in the interior of B.C. we often have smoke in the air. There are no forest fires near by but we still have smoke. I took this photo of our daughter Ann as she was arriving back in Canada. This was last Saturday. Ann has been living in France for the last year. If you were to look back in my blog to this time last year you will find a posted photo of Ann leaving the country. In that photo she is holding her pillow. The travel pillow Ann is hold in this photo is an idea that I have been working on for the last year. This pillow is the first prototype of that idea and she has been field testing it while traveling Europe. Prototype number two is almost ready for testing are there any volunteers? Bill

I took this photo last night when a storm was blowing by. I thought I should show you that it does rain here sometimes. It doesn't last long and the air is very fresh when it stops. The wind and the rain on the river can be quite captivating and changes quickly. The photo was taken with the Panasonic G1 and the new 14-140 lens. Bill

I now have the Panasonic 14-140 HD lens in stock. This is the kit lens designed for the new GH1. I think people may consider owning this lens even if using it for video is not their intention. The range is excellent for a walk around lens and not too heavy to carry all day. After using the lens for a short time I also have had the thought that people who don't own a Panasonic G1 or GH1 may consider buying one just to use this lens. The reason, two words, incredible " BOKEH" this word is used to explain the appearance of the out of focus area in a photograph. Here is an example. Bill

A new view of our yard and unfinished house taken with the new Panasonic 7-14 lens. Great lens, almost as exciting is the new Panasonic 14-140 lens that I received today. Guess what is going home on my camera tonight. It has been a day for firsts, thanks to Geoff I now have a camera customer in Australia. Some of you may know that one of the reasons I like to post photos on my blog is for my mother to view. She is here visiting us this week and was enjoying her morning coffee with me when I noticed these river otters swimming up the river. I had Sandy's Panasonic FZ18 near by because I had just seen a coyote. It is nice to be able to share this experience in person. I am also looking forward to using a Panasonic GH1 with HD video when they arrive. I haven't used video before but at times like this it would be nice. The otters were in and out of the water and were having so much fun a 30 sec. clip would have been a nice capture. Bill

Have I ever mentioned how much fun I have selling cameras, this last six months has changed our sales considerably. Our out of town customers have increased as more and more consumers are not able to find the products and possibly more importantly the service close to home. As a sales person I enjoy meeting and helping new customers and after awhile in a small community like Grand Forks that experience becomes limited. I have locally 10,000 potential customers and in the last 20 years I have sold most of them one or two cameras. By discovering that I can help people with their cameras easily anywhere in North America has added to our business. For me personally, learning that I can build a relationship with a customer and help them even if we never meet face to face has been rewarding. Here is a quick photo taken this morning of one of our beaver friends. The photo is taken with my Panasonic G1 and the 45-200 lens. I was using my mono pod and turned the lens stabilization off. I am not sure which would be better but there was not much light. The shutter was 1/20th and the photo is not perfect but how many times do you see a beaver from your bedroom balcony? Maybe he will be by for his breakfast tomorrow and I can try again. Bill

Here are two photos taken yesterday with the Panasonic G1 and the 45-200 lens. Photos of the neighbours are always fun. I took these photos while thinking of our recent road trip in France. We drove by many "watch for deer" road signs while driving in France, more than I have seen in any other country. We never saw a deer. We were told they "hide during the day and come out at night" I am not so sure about that. One photo taken with the lens at 45 and one at 200, F6.3 with no cropping. Bill

This is the first of my travel photos. When I first looked at them this was the one that called out to me. This photo expresses for me the feeling of our short vacation to France and our visit with our daughter Ann who is living there and working as a au pair. These are the three girls and their Mother who she is living with. Sharing times like this was for me a high light of the trip. This photo was captured with the Panasonic G1 and the live view using the large flip screen held at waist level. There is movement in the photo because I was running backward while taking the photo. This is also an example of how versatile this little camera is and why I think it is a great travel camera. I took this photo of Mount Baker moments after take off from Abbotsford on a flight to Montreal in September. Sandy and I are flying to France on Wednesday to visit with our daughter Ann. Here is a photo of our Christmas tree where we found it near the top of the hill. Our daughter Ann, who was home for Christmas from France, felt that being Canadian should mean we go and catch our own tree and not pick one up at the corner store. So we set off with our new snow tires and found ourselves on the top of Hardy Mountain looking for our tree. As you can see a tree covered in snow in the wild can appear different. Not everyone thought we made the best choice but we will do better next year. We sighted just the perfect tree on the way home. Bill

It is that time of the year again when I get to plant the Christmas tree on the ice. I thought I was late this year but checking back in the blog to January 28th 2008 I found that I am earlier than last year. It wasn't long before the neighbours decided to check it out. I know it has been a long time for me between posts. I hope to change that with longer day light and more photo opportunities. We are also planning a trip to France next month so we will be field testing cameras including the Panasonic G1 that I used to take these photos. This is some thing I have wanted to try for a long time, a panorama photo of the view from our deck. Today with the river frozen and the long shadows it was and ideal time to try. I took 4 photos vertical with my Sigma Dp1 and stitched them together in a program called Autostitch. It was very easy to do and I will do more as the ice melts. Click on the photo to see it larger. Here is a photo that I have re-posted. I made this photo to promote my Sigma Dp1 sales in the Spring. It is soon to be a new year and with that some new prices. There will be price increases from some suppliers this year, something we are not used to in this industry. There is also some price decreases. The Dp1 was introduced and sold for a cost of 849.95 in the Spring of 2008. Now it is available for the cost of 650.00 Canadian dollars. This is about 530.00 U.S. We have added a products and price page to our web site to make it easier to find what cameras we have available for on-line sales. I have been very busy this Fall mailing the Panasonic G1 and the Panasonic 45-200 lens to customers from Alaska to California to New York and to Texas. I also sent a blue one to Ottawa in the east Fort Providence NT in the North and Langley in the west. These customers have contacted me by e-mail and phone. I hope our new page will make contacting us easier. There is still no shopping cart because it is important for me to maintain a personal contact with my customers.
In the Spring I sold many Dp1s across Canada but none to the U.S. I have discovered with selling the G1 this Fall it is very easy for me to sell to the U.S. I can drive to a U.S. post office in about 15 minutes. When I look out the window of my store I can see across the border between Canada and the United States. Just a quick update on how the logging show is going. While washing the dishes a few days ago, I have lost track of days, and looking out the window, the tree fell before my eyes. It has not taken long for the clean up, I can hear them chomping and dragging the timber during the night. I can see them too if the noon is out and I have thought of a flash photo, but that might end our friendship. It is always fun to have something new before anyone else. This is the new 45-200 lens on the Panasonic G1. I won't have time to try this lens until I get more stock, it seems I can sell this new camera system just as fast I can get them. What is really exciting, this lens is 4 inches long and gives the same magnification as a 400 mm lens on a 35mm film camera, and it is stabilized too. The Panasonic G1's are now here, I am busy charging a battery and packaging the first ones to go out in the mail. I thought I was short shipped until I realized they are shipping two in a box to dealers. Just a reminder this is a small camera. How small, you really have to hold one in your hand to get the feel of how small it is. I have seen some very good comparisons on line for its size but until I held it in my hand, I really did not know. The next step of course is to use it and then see. It feels that I have missed a few weeks with the flu, but it has only been a few days, I am looking forward to using this camera and the new Pentax KM over this coming long weekend. What a beautiful morning. This is my view while sipping my morning cup of coffee. With a morning such as this I can't help but think how lucky I am to be able to live in location with this incredible beauty. I do share this location with a couple of beavers though, and their idea of a beautifully tree may be different than mine. I have been awakened the last few nights with the sound of falling trees as the beavers are preparing for winter. Choice & distance- a literary focus on photography by Leif Einarson, is a new article published on our web site. The new Pentax Km is shipping soon. This DSLR is aimed at the entry level market and will be the least expensive Pentax DSLR. When I look at the features this camera has I think it may have a much larger market. If I was planning to travel I would consider taking a KM because of it's compact size and how light it is. I think this camera may also be considered by current Pentax users as a second low cost body as a backup camera or a second body to hold another lens. I am back from Montreal. I was there this week attending the Foto Source annual meeting and the Photo Marketing trade show. This is our daughter Ann posing for me in front of the Bill Reid sculpture at the Vancouver International airport. She is now in France beginning her year of work and travel in Europe. This experience so far is proving to me again of how small this planet we all call home really is. The family Ann is living with in France we met last summer in our small store in our small town. But another example is us standing in line to check Ann's baggage and meeting people on their way back to France, who we had met last week in our store. And many thanks to them for the help given to Ann with her big bags and direction to her new home in France. Because of my site tracker I know I have readers from many parts of the world who find their way to my blog because of their interest in photography and sharing photos is another way to make our world smaller. With this experience I believe even more that this world is as big or as small as we would wish it to be.

These two photos have been posted to give people an idea of the difference between the Panasonic FZ 18 and the Panasonic FZ 28. These were taken quickly this morning before my coffee and were hand held. They were taken at the widest position with each camera. The cameras were set to 5.6 ISO 100 on aperture priority. I tried f4 and 7.1 but in both cameras 5.6 was notable better. As you will see the camera position is different and I know this needs to be done more accurately. This is all the time I have right now between selling cameras and running to the U.S. and Canadian post offices life is busy. Sandy and I are today also taking a trip to the city to take our youngest daughter Ann to the airport. She is moving to France for the next year to work and travel. We are excited and sad and worried most about her cat Oliver who doesn't understand. Bill

Here are some more photos from the new Panasonic FZ 28. I took them this morning from the deck while eating my breakfast. This is when I take most of my photos, in the morning with a cup of coffee near by or if you look back you will see there are a few in the evening with maybe a glass of wine close at hand. As to the new Panasonic, I need some time to compare with the FZ18. I have found in the past with new models there can be improvements but often they come at a cost. With market pressure to continually improve a product and then sell it at a lower price some of the changes may not be for the better. I sometimes wonder if the market we have created is working against product improvement. The last models of 35mm film cameras is an example where I often thought the priority was maximizing profit and not improving a product. Stay tuned for more. Bill

This camera is the newest in the Panasonic line of ultra zoom compact cameras. The previous model the FZ18 has been one of our best selling cameras for the last year. The question today will be, is the FZ28 a better camera than the FZ18. To begin it is important for you to know that I really like Panasonic cameras. I have twenty years of experience selling cameras and in our store with the point and shoot category you will find only Panasonic cameras and one model of Pentax. This is for many reasons but a few are, usually the customers first request is for a camera that is easy to use, secondly a camera that takes good photos. Panasonic does this very well at each price point but what customers don't often think about is that they need a camera that is well made with good quality control. If a customer who I sell a camera to has a problem with their camera it is also a problem for me. I test the cameras before they go out the door. It is important for me to know that what we sell is a good product. I won't sell something unless I would buy it for myself. I can count the number of warranty claims I have helped with on my two hands from Panasonic cameras that I have sold. I have lost count of how many cameras I have sold but it is more than one a day for the last three years. This is also a company that replaces or repairs their defective cameras faster than any other company that I have ever dealt with. Most Panasonic users never experience this but you can understand what a difference it makes to me the sales guy who depends on happy customers.
In the past when a company introduced a new camera my approach would be to wait to read a compressive review, order one to test and then decide if this was a camera that I would like to sell. I started this practice after an experience of having to return 24 cameras that I had ordered with the belief that they were a good product. Panasonic continually introduce new models that surpass the previous ones. If you have read all of this I think you will understand my statement that I like Panasonic cameras. I recently received my demo Sigma DP1 back from a customer that I had lent it to. For any of you who may not know what a DP1 is, it is a compact camera with a large foveon sensor. This camera for its small size produces excellent image quality. It has a fixed lens that has a wide angle view equal to a 28mm on a 35mm film camera. I plan on carrying this camera with me more often. This morning Sandy and I when for our early spin on our recumbent bikes. I didn't stop to take a photo of the sun coming up but I do see things differently if I know I could. For most people I think the world can looks different if you are carrying a camera. Another photo from the new Pentax 17 to 70 F4 SDM. This is my daughter Laura's friend Mandy. Summer time in Grand Forks means cooling off in the river. Laura is still testing this our first lens but we will have more stock tomorrow. I have put together a comparison with a Pentax 16 o 45 and a Sigma 17 to 70. There a lot of interest in the new Pentax 17 -70 DA SDM lens. Because of the photo posted below we have had many new people visit this Blog. We are currently building a new interactive web site with articles from our customers as well as our own articles, and one of the first articles will be about this lens because of this interest. In the mean time here are two photos taken at 17 mm and 70 mm, F4. Doing a test like this is not easy and this is only a start. I used an old copy stand and tried to make it level. The distance from the back of the camera is 15 in. or 39 cm. In reviewing these photos I see that the target is not set quite square. This test is meant to give you a indication of distortion and not sharpness. Bill Wilby

This wedding photo was taken by my daughter Laura yesterday. This is with the new Pentax 17 to 70 lens that we have just received. Laura may be the first to photograph a wedding with this lens and I think I may be the first to post photos with this lens as I have not seen any other. It has been awhile since the last post. Last night we drove over Hardy mountain and spotted these marmots beside the road. This again is the Sigma 120-400 os lens at 1/25 of a sec. 400 mm 5.6 I was sitting in the car but these are hand held. By the number of hits to this blog regarding this lens that I have seen from all over the world it is becoming very popular. The evenings have been very pleasant with the warm weather. Here is a photo by Laura of Oliver enjoying the last sun of the day. Laura is now using Sigma cameras for her wedding photography. I can't wait to see the results from this weekend weddings. Bill
